About Us

Kasey’s Cure is a nonprofit organization providing monetary assistance for veterinary care for dogs with a curable medical condition. Kasey’s Cure was established to make the decision easier for dog owners facing the high cost of veterinary medial care. By providing financial assistance in time of critical need, we seek to help pet owners make health care decisions for their beloved pets without worrying about the costs involved.

Kasey’s Cure was developed in memory of my amazing West Highland Terrier – Kasey. She was diagnosed in March of 2005 with lymphoma. She was only 6 years old. I was devastated by this news, but luckily we had the resources to do whatever it took to extend her life and to keep her comfortable. We began chemotherapy as well as alternative methods of treatment immediately. We soon learned that the cancer was aggressive and did not go into remission – her treatment was unsuccessful. Kasey was put to sleep at our farm just 5 weeks later.

What I learned from this experience in waiting room after waiting room is that far too many families are torn by the decision to seek expensive medical treatment for their pet during tough financial times. I cannot imagine how heartbreaking it would have been to learn that Kasey had a treatable disease, but I could not afford to seek proper care for her. So I soon decided to speak with my local veterinary about setting up a foundation in Kasey’s name that would help pet owners pay for the care of their beloved animals when they become sick – thus Kasey’s Cure was founded.

I must admit that this foundation is partly selfish on my part. It keeps Kasey alive and with me everyday that we raise one dollar. So, I ask that you with an open heart give whatever you can to those who need our help. I will in turn report back with stories of the beloved pets that we together have helped. I thank you.
